Kaleidoscope Youth Center
The Kaleidoscope Youth Center is funded by the Minority AIDS Initiative for Care and Prevention in the United States. Its mission is to reduce or stem the spread of HIV in our most vulnerable group (Black MSMs and LGBTs from age 13-24) by increasing accessibility to healthcare, educating on prevention and risk reduction, and providing a nonjudgmental environment to engage youth in decision-making and assuming responsibility for their health.
Youth are welcomed into a friendly safe environment equipped with internet access, games, TV, and movies to allow for leisure and an opportunity to get medical screening, STD screening, dental screening, and psycho-social counseling. Those who are homeless or in need of shelter will be linked to community partners to facilitate placement. Light snacks are served and nutritional counseling will be available throughout the month.
